I have an interest in purchasing early Israeli stamps - primarily sheets and FDCs, from Declaration through to the mid 1980's, in a systematic manner over a period of time.
Please let me know if you'd be interested in selling - or alternatively where one would find a reputable dealer.
Thanks,
David
Houston.

I am a novice to Israel stamp collecting and am soliciting your assistance to understand some Israel stamp collecting terminology.
I keep running into terms like "Doar Irvi" and "nbsp." Could you or someone that is knowledgable with these terms please tell me what "Doar Ivri" translates to? I know that "Doar" means MAIL. Could you tell me what "Ivri" means! Also, could you tell me the significance of why this terminology is associated with the early issues of Israel--presumably Sc#1-9.
With regard to "nbsp," can you also tell be what that trranslates to and its significance to Israel stamps (does it ave something to do with the tabs?). I am just curious and also want to be knowledgable when discussing Israel stamps with other collectors, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Robert C. Schoeler

CORRECTION: (should have used term "Doar Ivri" and not "Doar Irvi.")

Doar Ivri - Hebrew Post
When Israel issued its first stamps in May 1948, the leaders had not decided the new name for the country. They needed to have stamps available immediately (which had been printed previous to the Declaration of Independence) so they chose to call the stamps Doar Ivri - Hebrew Post.
nbsp is used on web pages to create an "invisible" space It is used to help line up images. It has not meaning in regards to stamps. You saw it because of a glich in someones web page.
