The Society of Israel Philatelists (SIP) was founded in New York City shortly after Israel became a sovereign state in 1948. The SIP is devoted to the philately of the Holy Land, Israel and Judaica.

The Israel Philatelist is the society's journal sent to over 1000 members worldwide. The SIP established a non-profit Educational Fund in 1966 that advances SIP goals and ideals through educational programs. The Endowment Fund furthers ongoing youth education and ensures the SIP's financial future.

Other society benefits include local chapters (9), study groups (4), affiliates (7), slide show programs (124), handbooks/monographs, exhibition awards, special awards, and an annual convention at a WSP show.
